Ingredients
4 Hillshire Farm® Fresh Mild Italian Sausage Links
4 slices crusty Italian bread
8 oz fontina cheese, thinly sliced
1/4 cup roasted red peppers, cut into strips
salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 cup olive oil
Directions
- In a large sauté pan, indoor grill or barbecue, cook the sausages until beginning to brown (about 5 minutes).
- Arrange 2 bread slices on your work surface. Top each slice with 2 sausage links, 1 ounce of cheese and half of the peppers. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Top with remaining cheese and bread to make two sandwiches. Brush the sandwiches with oil.
- Heat a large nonstick skillet, panini grill or indoor grill over medium heat. Add sandwiches, and weigh down with a large dinner plate. (If you are using a panini grill, simply close the lid until done.) Grill until bread is golden-brown on the first side. Then, turn over the sandwich, and weigh down with the plate again. Continue to grill until the second side is golden and cheese has melted, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer to a cutting board. Slice each panini in half, and serve warm.
